“It exposed us to the possibilities of combining the various platforms to promote one type of content in different ways. sThought provoking, inspiring. A wealth of knowledge into a developing market”
Intermediate Camera Craft Workshop attendee - with Jeremy Humphries
"Jeremy was excellent as he tied in particular learning points from the workshop to my writing. The knowledge he imparted was invaluable and the tips he gave are things I will bear in mind when writing in the future".
Foundation Camera Craft Workshop attendees - with Jeremy Humphries
"I was thoroughly impressed with the amount of essential camera knowledge Jeremy was able to impart in a very small space of time but I was blown away by his insights and tips regarding the art and craft of visual storytelling for the screen. I’ve learnt practical skills which will serve me through the rest of my Film and TV career for which I am extremely grateful. It was well worth it and I will be recommending Skills2Film to anyone I meet who could benefit from further training. Highly recommended".
"The workshop really enabled me to develop my confidence when using the camera, in terms of achieving depth of field, understanding back focus and colour temperature. With these new skills I have developed from the workshop I will be able to demonstrate these when teaching my own students. Jeremy’s knowledge and experience made the workshop extremely engaging, he ensured he meet everyone’s needs and was extremely supportive throughout the day. The workshop was both fun and extremely interesting".
Sound workshop attendees - with Richard Meredith
"I was very impressed with the overall structure and delivery of the course. The theory and physics of sound was a good platform to start from and helped me to almost visualise the process of a sound wave and how it is generated, captured and recorded.
I felt the pace of the course was tailored to suit our level, giving us all ample time for questions and a run through again at the end of the day. The relevence of the course corresponded well to the practacal uses at Icon.
Richard’s longrunning and current profession in Sound attributed hugely to the success of the course. He had all the industries top tips and shared his experiences with us as examples for using particular bits of kit and what to do if sound is not recording correctly"
Camera Craft Workshop attendee - with Jeremy Humphries
"What was excellent was that Jeremy took time to find out exactly what I needed and then structured the day around those issues. He went on to give me help and advice over the phone and via e-mail when I was on location. I am extremely grateful to him for this help and find his level of support and intervention an indication of his professionalism and pursuit of excellence in other people's work, as well as his own."
Tigress Productions workshop attendee - with Jeremy Humphries
"We covered a wide range of items on the day from looking at camera techniques, posture and composition to using ND filters, colour balance and filming on the hoof sequences. It was very useful being shown technical aspects of the camera and how these can be ultilised when one goes out to film observational docs and interviews.
Watching Jeremy’s own footage and programmes was a great way to be shown options of what can be done and how we can break down a sequence in to a variety of shots. Overall it was a great course and Jeremy was a fantastic teacher!"
Optomen TV workshop attendees - with Jeremy Humphries
"It was incredibly useful, insightful and also enlightening! I have done a lot of courses and they always seem to centre about the technical aspects and more ordinary shooting; WS, CU, establishers. What you focus on is how to make sequences more exciting, emotional, concentrating on faces, EYES and reactions, as well as making sure you are telling the story using a variety of interesting and emotive shots.
Also, how to shoot good sequences when you don’t have time/proper lighting set ups/a large team of runners to help – more realistic shooting using natural light sources and how to withstand long shooting periods; leaning against walls, sitting on chairs etc. It was a really great day, and I feel a lot more confident about my abilities as a shooting AP, and am determined to not only do a good job but also impress the edit with my rushes!"
Optomen TV workshop attendee - with Jeremy Humphries
"I thought the course was excellent – not only did we get to bend the ear of someone with so much experience but Jeremy took us through step by step the techniques we need to take our shooting to the next level.
I’ve done some other training before but it was purely focused on the technical side. But learning about how to use available light, depth of field, focus, and colour temperature to tell a story was invaluable. Jeremy really emphasised the fact that the way we shoot a piece of obs filming to capture the atmospehre adds meaning to a situation/story. Doing the course has got me really fired up for working on my next series and I can’t wait to come back with some impressive footage!"
Bespoke Workshop Attendee - with Jeremy Humphries
“I found this course entirely inclusive and incisive. The attentive care that Jeremy took to make sure all I wanted to know and learn about regarding self shooting was quite exceptional. Areas that I assumed complex, he was able to de-mystify and distil down into a simple approach.
All the time I felt I was being mentored by an individual at the top of his craft and profession and all the while at a tempo I could keep up with.
Jeremy is articulate and a great communicator: open to questioning at all time but never leaving you in doubt as to the essentials one must master to be competent with a camera. His insight into current practice in television broadcasting is invaluable. I would have absolutely no hesitation in commending this course to my peers and colleagues"

"I am very pleased with the training course. I found all the day very relevant, as it had been structured to my needs and where I need to be heading (in my career) and honing my skills. It has given me great confidence and a greater understanding at what I need to be doing to improve my skills and to make the next move up.
